Why do your pans still smell like fish? The Mamù secret for a fresh kitchen

Perché le tue pentole "puzzano" ancora di pesce? Il segreto Mamù per una cucina sempre fresca

Have you ever cooked a delicious salmon fillet or a garlic and oil pasta, washed the pan carefully, and then... found it still "smelling" like dinner the next morning?

It is a common problem that ruins the cooking experience. But why does it happen? And how can we solve it? Today, Annachiara reveals the technical secret of Mamù Cookware and a foolproof "grandma's trick" for your old pans.

The secret is in the coating

Most pans on the market have a porous coating. This means that, at a microscopic level, there are tiny "pores" that absorb food particles and aromatic oils. That is why, even if the surface looks clean, the smell remains trapped inside.

With Mamù, things are different. Our pans are designed with a high-quality technical coating, engineered to be totally odor-proof. The surface is so compact and smooth that nothing can penetrate it. You can cook the most flavorful fish and, after a quick wash, move on to preparing a delicate custard without fearing any flavor contamination. This is true freedom in the kitchen!

The "Mamù Trick" for smelly pans

If you have an old pan at home that you are fond of, but it seems to have "adopted" the smell of garlic or onion, do not despair. There is a powerful natural remedy that we always use: the Vinegar and Lemon magic paste.

What you need:

- 2 tablespoons of Baking Soda (optional, for a gentle abrasive action)

- The juice of half a Lemon

- A glass of white Vinegar

How to do it:

1) Create the paste: In a small bowl, mix the lemon juice and vinegar (and the baking soda if you have it). A slight foam will form: this is the reaction that sanitizes!

2) Spread and massage: Pour the mixture into the cold pan and spread it well over the entire surface with a soft sponge.

3) Let it sit: Let it rest for about 10-15 minutes. The acidity of the lemon and vinegar will neutralize the foul odor molecules.

4) Rinse: Wash normally with a little neutral soap and lukewarm water.

The smell will be gone!
