Each of us may have different tastes, prefer a more or less savory recipe, or believe that whipping cream requires a screwdriver. But what we all agree on is that in life you need sweetness to be able to move forward. And to eat, too. Otherwise, you'll surely die.

And so today we at Mamù have combined these two needs, that of sweetness and that of eating, and we have prepared for you the classic muffin recipe .

Muffins originated in American cuisine and are perfect for breakfast, a snack, or a diet-defying treat. The dough is easy to make in 15 minutes, and the list of ingredients is so short it's almost embarrassing to call it a list. Of course, it's up to you to decide how to top them: in that case, we're not responsible for its length.

Cooking time: between 20 and 25 minutes

Ingredients for six servings:

  • 200 g of flour

  • 60 g of butter

  • 100 g of sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 100 ml milk

  • 80 g of sour cream or plain yogurt

  • Lemon zest and vanilla bean for flavoring

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • Salt to taste

Muffin recipe preparation method

  • Place the sifted sugar, flour and yeast in a bowl and mix.

  • In a second bowl, combine the egg, milk, sour cream (or yogurt), and melted butter. Add the lemon zest, vanilla, and salt, if desired.

  • Now combine the contents of the two bowls, taking care to mix until you obtain a smooth mixture.

  • Prepare the muffin molds: use butter or paper cups.

  • Pour the mixture into them: remember to fill them only three-quarters full.

  • Bake them in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit) for about twenty-five minutes. Check every now and then with a toothpick.

  • Once they are cooked, you can take them out of the oven and serve them after they have cooled.

This is the recipe for classic muffins . You can also add fresh fruit like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or apple, or get festive by adding Nutella or chocolate chips.
